Royal Palm Christian Church is an embracing church. Such a church is desperately needed in a world where it is far easier to find cold shoulders than warm hugs. With the arms of faith, the church holds certain things as precious. These things make the church what it is as it seeks to spread the love and message of Jesus Christ.
As an embracing church we embrace Jesus as Lord and Savior. We believe he is Emmanuel, God with us. We see in the life, crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus, the source of our salvation. Through faith in him we have the forgiveness of sins, meaning in this life and hope for life eternal. In the example and teaching of Jesus Christ we find our supreme authority for right living and joyous fulfillment. Confession of faith in Jesus as Lord and Savior is the sole basis of our membership and unity as a church.
As an embracing church we embrace the freedom to study scripture and urge people to come to their own thoughtful conclusions. We welcome people with a diversity of viewpoints. At Royal Palm Christian Church there is no creed that everyone must affirm. While most members embrace historic convictions of the Church, we are neither judgmental nor exclusionary. A faith-filled openness and seeking spirit are encouraged. We are committed to looking at the Bible together and learning from each other with respect and appreciation.
As an embracing church we embrace those who are wounded and hurting. We are dedicated to being a compassionate people as we follow the Christ who healed hurts and fed the hungry. In our broken, conflict-ridden and unjust world, we believe we are called by God to reach out with help to those who suffer in body, soul or spirit. Jesus taught that as we feed the hungry, help the homeless, befriend the neglected and aid the ill, we are serving him (Matthew 25: 31-46). We are committed to walking in the merciful ways of Christ.
As an embracing church we embrace people of every variety. Scripture teaches us, “Welcome one another, just as Christ has welcomed you, for the glory of God” (Romans 15:7). All people are welcome without hesitation at Royal Palm Christian Church. People of every race, nation, culture, economic class, educational level or any other distinction have a place. We believe Jesus makes people of various “groups into one and have broken down the dividing wall” (Ephesians 2: 14). We are all a new creation through faith in Jesus Christ. The old distinctions that so often separate peoples are transcended as we come together as the worshipping, serving and growing people of God in Christ. In Him we are one.
As an embracing church we literally embrace one another in warm fellowship and tender care. In a world where there is so much alienation and too little positive contact with others, we open our arms and hearts to one another. We seek to close the distance created by the fear and suspicion that are prevalent in our society. Our aim is to move from handshakes to heart-felt hugs and to “love one another with mutual affection” (Romans 12:10). We endeavor to be a family of faith where we support, encourage and care for each other with the love given to us in Jesus Christ.
